Knowing the IVF success rate allows you to set expectations on the outcome of treatment at a fertility clinic. IVF treatment can be challenging as some couples may need multiple cycles to achieve a pregnancy. There are many factors contributing to the success rate. Generally, the IVF success rate tends to decrease in women above the age of 40 due to reduced ovarian reserve (egg count) and egg quality.
The table below shows the pregnancy and clinical pregnancy rates per frozen blastocyst transfer for women of three age groups (34 years old and below, 35 to 39 years old, and 40 years old and above) from January 2020 to December 2022. The overall IVF success rate at Alpha IVF Centre (Singapore) is 72.5% pregnancy rate and 60.2% clinical pregnancy rate per frozen blastocyst transfer.

Our experience with live birth above the age of 45:
In 2020, Singapore Government withdrew the age limit for women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment, allowing women aged 45 and above to explore ART treatments. One such is our oldest patient, whom at the age of 47, delivered her newborn baby using her own eggs, that were retrieved after 45 years old. Although we strongly encourage starting IVF treatment early, the live birth shows that there is hope for women above 45 years old who are still trying to conceive.
The pregnancy rates are the result of technologies used in ART treatments such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) for embryo selection, pulse driven intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), time-lapse culture system, embryo cryopreservation, and etc.
