What can you expect during the first visit to a fertility clinic?

If you have been actively trying to conceive but to no avail after 6 months or 1 year of unprotected sexual intercourse, a trip to fertility clinic may provide you with answers to the cause of infertility. An exact diagnosis is important for finding the right treatment options to achieve pregnancy. Fertility assessment is the best way to know whether you’re fertile.

What is Fertility Assessment?

Fertility Assessment is a test that helps to investigate the reason behind your difficulty in conceiving. Through the process of fertility assessment, you and your spouse will undergo a series of tests to evaluate both of your reproductive health.

A visit to a Fertility Clinic usually start with:

  • Semen analysis to find out the parameters of the sperm quality and quantity
  • A pelvic vagina scan to find out the overall condition of the egg reserve
  • An abdominal scan to find out the overall condition of the womb, indications of fibroid, cysts, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), or endometriosis, etc.
  • Further investigation such as Hysterosalpingography (HSG) to investigate blocked fallopian tubes, if necessary.
  • Blood tests

Once the fertility assessment has been completed, our fertility specialist will discuss with you and your spouse regarding the most suitable treatment options that may help you to conceive.

You should visit a fertility clinic if you or your spouse are having these issues:

  • Irregular periods
  • Repeated miscarriages
  • Thyroid problems
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Problems getting an erection
  • Problems ejaculating
